Owner
Hi, my name is Dawn O’Leary and I own and manage Dragonluck Kennels. I am a Registered Nurse and have been breeding Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers since 1998. I am a Pet first aid instructor and teach for Walksn’wags. I have achieved many titles on my own dogs including canine good neighbor titles, Obedience titles ,Field titles and Conformation Championships.
I first decided to open the kennel when we moved to our current location on Fernbank Road because some neighbors asked if their dogs could spend the day with our Tollers rather than be at home alone. This led to research into day cares and boarding and in March 2007 we incorporated, and Dragonluck Kennels has been open since then.
As I live on the premises, I see many of you coming and going and love saying hi and doing visits to welcome all the newcomers to our dog family.
Over the years we have come to value our customers as friends and know their dogs are given to us as a treasure to be cared for, entertained, and enjoyed for their own personalities and antics as they spend time at Dragonluck.
As we met more dogs and their families we learned that each family has different needs and we have tried to meet some of these by offering puppy play dates , training in basic obedience and helping with behaviour issues, field training for those wanting to have their dogs hunt with them or compete in trials, and lastly socializing puppies and older dogs who gain a lot from being with canine friends.
Staff
At Dragonluck we hire People who have a respect for dogs as individuals and a commitment to caring for the customers Furry Kids. Staff often have certificates in Vet assistants training, dog training and all are Pet First Aid Trained.
Our staff love being with the dogs and no matter what the weather will enjoy going out and playing on our property.
Staff are provided with ongoing education and assistance in dealing with any individual needs that the dogs may demonstrate.
Our English Pointer puppy Silver is thrilled to follow in Drifter’s paw steps to spend his day at Dragonluck Kennels. Silver runs inside to meet his fur friends and loves the team often pokes his head in the office to give them licks and woofs. And he is super tired when he comes home after a fun filled doggy daycare day.
The kind, caring staff are very attentive, proffessional and super friendly. It’s so easy to book in and drop off/ pick up is quick and easy. They are very accommodating and have been super generous with requests, advice and training which we deeply appreciate.
The groomed walking trails are stunning on this incredible property and the play areas filled with great toys and activities for busy dogs.
We’ve used the boarding services and love the connection from the whole team with updates and sharing pics of our dog enjoying himself while we are on vacation it’s a great piece of mind knowing how loved and well cared for our dog is while at Dragonluck Kennels.
I’ve had the great pleasure to attend Walks ‘N’ Wags Pet First Aid training with owner Dawn O’Leary and highly recommend this course for anyone with dogs or cats. Dawn is an awesome facilitator and clearing lives her passion.
